We regret to announce that the University of Hawai'i is unable to host an in-person event for Global Coral Reef Week 2020.
Dr. Chelsie Counsell is still working as one of three GCRW co-organizers to host and support all virtual components of this conference.
Chelsie received her PhD in Marine Biology from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. Her dissertation focused on assembly dynamics within a coral-associated reef community. Prior to moving to Hawai'i, Chelsie earned her Master's degree in Ecology an Evolution from Florida State University where her research was focused on the effects of hypoxia on the spatial distribution of marine megafauna in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. While completing her BS in Biology at Elon University, Chelsie completed an Honors thesis based on her research on grouper populations in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Currently, Chelsie is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology. She is working with a team of quantitative ecologists to inform marine resource management strategies across the state of Hawai'i by modeling reef ecosystem responses to biophysical oceanographic processes and various human impacts.
